String Quartet #3 (Vignettes for String Quartet)
This was written for the Lindsayan String Quartet, and was premiered by them in 2001. The work has five short movements and was written to be easily inserted into a diverse program. Though the movements are vignettes (or 'sketches'), they are thematically interwoven, uniting the work as a singular whole.
Of "String Quartet #3" the well-respected composer Samuel Adler wrote, "...these are very strong short pieces...they are excellently written and show a real creative power behind each one...musical ideas which are fresh and (the) harmony is very fine."
(String Quartet #3 is approx. 10 min.)
